Developing an intimate knowledge of your target market is crucial to your success in MLM/Network Marketing. In order to reach the most number of qualified people, you must understand what they're looking for in great detail, and position it in front of them regularly.

Just the other day, I saw an infomercial for a popular fitness program. It wasn't my first time; as a matter of fact, I actually own this product. However I decided to sit and watch the program again to identify what it was that caused me to purchase this product. There are some very interesting things that I discovered that relate to building a successful MLM/Network Marketing business and I want to share them with you.

Did you know that there is a definitive psychology behind developing an infomercial? From beginning to end, each scene, the words they say, and the flow of the content are all designed to push the buttons of the target audience that they are trying to attract. Infomercials are successful because they follow a distinct pattern. Here are the basic components of an infomercial:

1. Identifying and pressing on the "pain" (i.e. overweight, lack knowledge, etc.)

2. Discuss what you've tried in the past and why "this one" is different and why it will work this time

3. Testimonies of successful customers (usually at least 3 varying in age, race, and talking about their "unique" situation)

4. Call to action ("call 1-800...")

5. Special bonuses ("if you order today, you'll also receive...")

6. The "takeaway" ("limited time offer," "while supplies last," "call before (TIME)"

Billions of dollars are generated each year in the sale of products using this process. Before you dismiss this information because you have never bought from an informercial, remember that they are after a very specific target market, and if that target market sees it enough, they will buy. MLM/Network marketers are at a disadvantage because they don't understand targetmarketing, or how to position their products/services/opportunity correctly to the marketplace. This is exactly why prospecting doesn't work for so many people in that there is no established target, or marketing system set up to attract the right people.

Infomercials aren't looking for just anybody because that would be a waste of resources. The ads are very specific as to whom they are targeting, and they don't leave room for anything else.
If you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always gotten. It may be time for a change. Don't pass up a great opportunity for growth today for the sake of what you've been used to.
